Metro supports Rail Safety Week
It's National Rail Safety Week and Metro is proud to be an industry partner and supporter of this important event.
National Rail Safety week was established by the Australian Railway Association (ARA) in 2006 as an iniative to improve awareness and education around level crossing safety. The theme for this year is 'use your brain, tracks are for trains', with activities and education programs focusing on staying alert around level crossings and station platforms especially whilst wearing headphones.
In keeping with the theme of the week here are a couple of our own safety tips to keep in mind the next time you travel with Metro:
- When on the platform always walk and wait behind the yellow line until the train has come to a complete stop.
- Please don't run on the platform, or on stairs and escalators, there's always another train coming.
- Never attempt to hold a train door open or force it open.
- Stand aside and allow other people to get off before you board the train.
