Finding a better way to get you through Richmond station and to the game
Richmond station is one of Melbourne's premium event stations and to help keep up with the crowds during large sporting or cultural events we will be trialling a new pedestrian traffic flow plan for customers this weekend. The trail will be run over two AFL games this coming weekend:
Saturday 18 August
Essendon v Carlton at the MCG at 1:45pm
Sunday 19 August
Hawthorn v Gold Coast Suns at 4:40pm
The aim of this trial is to efficiently and safely move Metro customers through the pedestrian subways on their way to the MCG and to their selected platforms on their way home. The outcomes from this weekend's trial will be used to plan a long term pedestrian and crowd flow solution for Richmond station and the surrounding event precinct.
During the trial pedestrian walkways will be clearly marked with temporary barriers, customer information and directional signage. Metro customer service staff will also be available at the MCG, Brunton Avenue and Swan Street to direct customers and assist with any queries.
If you're travelling to the MCG this weekend and would like to provide feedback on the traffic flow trial you can do so at here
