Major works this summer

Major works this summer

Work on major transport infrastructure projects may impact the way you travel around Melbourne and across the state.

Public transport

As part of Victoria’s Big Build, major construction has finished on three of the five new Metro Tunnel underground stations. The project has also entered a new phase known as trial operations, which will continue into next year. Works continue to remove dangerous and congested level crossings. For more information about planned disruptions visit our Planned Works page.

Metropolitan trains

Be sure to plan ahead and allow more time for travel during major works this summer, especially if you’re travelling over the school holiday period.
To avoid delays:

• Plan your journey before you travel using the Journey Planner
• Allow extra travel time
• Consider alternatives if you can and travel outside of peak times where possible.

There are also smaller disruptions for essential works happening across the network. See our Planned Works page for information on all current and upcoming disruptions.
